Description
Holborn Farm Barn, located approximately 5 metres south east of Holborn Farm, is an 18th-century barn and loosebox. It features weatherboarding over a light timber frame and a brick plinth, topped with a thatched roof. The structure consists of three bays and has an aisle at the rear, with a loosebox and hayloft at the left end. It is a single storey with a loft on the left side. The front facing the road has late 20th-century double doors leading to the threshing floor in the central bay, along with 20th-century lights in the top right. The roof is hipped.
Inside, the barn has stepped and curved jowls on the posts, which are arch-braced to the tie-beam and wall-plate. It features a queen post truss, clasped purlins, and new rafters at the front. The loosebox on the left, enclosed by three weatherboarded walls, contains 18th-century plank doors with strap hinges, two 18th-century shutters with strap hinges between the barn and looseboxes, and original ceiling joists. The barn is included for its group value.
