Description
The Old Crown is an inn that has been converted into a house, with a datestone on the right indicating it was built in 1708, with a later 18th-century addition on the left. The building features squared and coursed chalk on a sarsen base, with brick quoins and dressings. The left bay is constructed in Flemish bond brick and the entire structure is colour-washed in white. It has a thatched roof with brick stacks. The layout consists of three units, and the building is 1.5 storeys high with a cellar and a three-window range. There is a 20th-century door set in the original moulded architrave, which has carved brackets supporting a flat hood above it. Timber lintels are present over the 20th-century casements. The roof is half-hipped and features one ridge stack along with end stacks. The interior has not been inspected. There is a mid-19th-century wing at the rear right, made of brick with a Welsh slate roof and a ridge stack, which includes one two-light leaded casement.
