Description

Spinages Farmhouse (No. 22) and Spinages (No. 24) is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a thatched roof and rendered stacks. The building features a three-unit lobby entry design and stands two storeys tall with a four-window range. Timber lintels with bead mouldings are present over all openings, including a 20th-century door in a narrowed opening. On the ground floor, there are two late 19th-century four-light casement windows and a 17th-century two-light wood-mullioned window above the door; the other windows are from the 20th century. Skylights have been added to an inserted attic floor around 1970. The roof is half hipped, with ridge and left end stacks from a staircase projection at the centre of the rear elevation. The interior has not been inspected. There is a 20th-century extension to the front left. An early 19th-century cottage is attached to the left gable end, built in similar materials and style; it was originally designed as a two-unit lobby entry plan house, but the entry to the left, facing the gable end stack, has been blocked.
