Description

Stanford Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1800. It features Flemish bond brick with flared headers on the front and rear, coursed and dressed limestone on the right side wall, and coursed limestone rubble on the other walls. The roof is made of stone slate and has brick stacks. The building is two storeys high and originally had three windows but now has a two-window range. It has cambered gauged brick arches over four 6-pane sash windows, one of which has been reset in the original central door opening. The other two windows have been blocked by a 20th-century porch, which now serves as the entrance on the left. The farmhouse has a projecting plinth course, a storey band, and dentilled eaves. The roof is hipped to the right and is attached to a 20th-century extension on the left. The left end stack has been rebuilt in the 20th century, and there are two ridge stacks in the rear right wing.

The right side wall features brick jambs and segmental arches over 6-pane sashes in a three-window range, along with dentilled eaves. The rear elevation facing the courtyard has segmental arches over a 20th-century door with a porch, a blocked door, 2- and 3-light leaded casements, and an inserted late 19th-century horned sash in a four-window range, also with dentilled eaves. Attached to the left gable wall of the rear wing is a two-storey block that has segmental arches over a plank door, one mid-19th-century two-light casement, and a 2-light iron barred window. In the centre of the U-plan is a small yard with a brick and tile lean-to that has leaded casement windows built onto the rear of the right side wing.

The interior was remodelled around 1955 when the porch and left wing were added. The straight run staircase has been repositioned and restored, featuring balusters and newels. The rooms retain 4-panelled doors in moulded architraves and a 2-panelled door in a fine reeded architrave that was moved to the internal entry of the left wing during the 1955 renovations.
