Description
This building, known as M.J. Spencer, is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the early 18th century but has had some alterations in the 20th century. The ground level features a plinth made of 20th-century red brick, while the first floor is constructed from 18th-century red brick with flared headers arranged in Flemish bond. The roof is covered with old plain tiles, and there is a brick end stack on the left side. The building is a single storey with an attic and has a two-window range. The shop front, added in the 20th century, consists of plate glass with a central glazed door. To the left, there is a sash door topped with a segmental brick arch. The building also features two hipped half-dormers, each with 4-pane horned sashes. Inside, the front of the ground floor has been adapted for use as a shop.
