Description
Temple Farmhouse features a doorway and wall located approximately 40 metres to the north. The doorway, dated 1614, is constructed from limestone rubble and ashlar. The wall runs east-west and is about 40 metres long. The doorway has a four-centre moulded arch with carved spandrels, and it is flanked by several pieces of medieval carved stone that have been reused as walling material. The wall above the arch is now covered in ivy, but earlier descriptions and photographs from 1902 show a segmental pediment with the date 1614. An earlier view from 1823 depicts the gateway in a different position, facing away from the house, with the pediment at a higher level.
