Description
Wheatfield House is a house that was formerly a rectory, built in the early 18th century with an early 19th-century addition to the rear and mid-20th-century alterations. It features a rendered plinth and is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings, topped with an old plain-tile roof and brick end stacks. The building is two stories high and has a five-window range. All openings have 12-pane unhorned sashes, with those on the first floor surrounded by painted wood architrave surrounds. On the left side, there is a four-panel door with a 20th-century porch supported by Doric columns at the center, and the fenestration is regular with sashes. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, the house was built for Adan Blandy around 1709 to 1722 and was enlarged around 1823 for Frederic Charles Spencer, after which it was stuccoed, although the stucco has since been removed.
