Description

Backus is a 17th-century cottage located in Rotherfield Greys. It features a timber frame with rendered infill and a plain tile roof, which has a central ridge brick stack. The cottage is designed with a 2-unit baffle entry and is two stories high with a two-window range. It has two-light casements on both the ground and first floors, and a central plank door. The roof is half-hipped on the left side. On the right-hand return, there is a re-set Gothick casement window on the ground floor. Inside, the cottage has a Queen-post roof with wind braces that are visible in the first-floor room to the right.
