Description

An 18th-century barn, possibly incorporating elements of an earlier 14th-century chapel. The barn is constructed of flint rubble with brick and stone quoins, and features C20 weatherboard cladding on a brick and flint base to the rear. It has a half-hipped roof covered in C20 wood shingles. A timber lintel spans a blocked doorway on the left side, with a double entry on the right. An early 14th-century two-light window, now partly damaged, is visible in the right side wall. The internal roof structure consists of a 3-bay collar-truss design with clasped purlins and curved under-principles. The window may be linked to the manor house of the D'Oilly family at Pishill, as recorded in 1406 when they received permission for a chapel.
