Description
This is a farmhouse, likely built in the late 17th century and refronted in the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features an old plain-tile hipped roof with lead ridges and brick internal stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a three-window range.
The central entrance has a six-panel door, which is probably accompanied by an early 18th-century fanlight and an arched surround. This entrance is flanked by Doric wood half-columns that support a triangular dentilled pediment with a pulvinated frieze. On either side of the door, there are paired eight-pane sash windows with segmental brick heads. A flat brick band runs between the ground and first floors, where there are three 12-pane sash windows. Another flat brick band is present between the first and second floors, which also features three 12-pane sash windows.
At the rear, the building is made of flint with brick dressings on the ground and first floors, while the second floor is entirely brick. The rear has irregular fenestration of sash windows. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is likely to be of interest. This farmhouse is part of a notable group of farm buildings.
