Description
The former dovecote, now a granary, is located approximately 30 metres south-west of the Manor House in Little Milton. It dates from the 18th century and features a roof from that period, although the walls may be much older. The structure is built from limestone rubble and has a plain-tile roof. The very thick battered walls rise from a rubble plinth and include a small, deeply-recessed entrance on the east side, which contains a 2-plank door in a heavy wooden frame. The west face has a second entrance and a grain-loft door, both with brick dressings. The building is topped with a pyramid roof that has a wooden ball finial. Inside, the stone nesting-boxes have been bricked up, and a granary floor has been inserted. The base of the framing for a glover is still visible in the two-truss roof.
