Description

Town Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-16th century, with extensions added to the sides around 1790. The original structure is timber-framed, with a rendered front and flint rubble sides and rear featuring brick dressings. It has a gabled M-shaped roof covered with old tiles, and symmetrical brick stacks at both ends, along with a large lateral stack at the rear. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high, featuring a symmetrical three-window arrangement.

The central gabled projecting bay includes a 20th-century leaded window above a segmental arched 20th-century door, while the flanking bays contain three-light leaded casements, except for a 19th-century three-light casement on the lower left. To the right, there is a one-storey brewhouse made of flint rubble with brick dressings, topped with a gabled old tile roof, and featuring an 18th-century plank door flanked by three-light leaded casements.

Inside, the 16th-century section of the house reveals exposed timber framing and a three-bay queen-post roof with curved windbraces and clasped purlins. Additionally, there is an L-shaped wall to the left of the front, constructed of flint and rubble with vertical brick dressings.
