Description
49 to 52 High Street is a building constructed in 1901 by R P Warren, designed in the Elizabethan style. It is made of ashlar and consists of three storeys plus an attic. The ground floor features shops supported by Tuscan columns, with a central round-headed archway leading to the rear, which has cast-iron gates. The facade includes five windows, with four and five lights, and canted two-storey oriel windows on either side of a central squared oriel. The building is topped with five gables, each containing a three-light window, and has gabled dormers under a slate roof. This building is part of a group of listed buildings on the north side of High Street.
