Description

Carfax Tower is the tower of the Church of St Martin, located at Carfax. The church was rebuilt between 1820 and 1822 by John Ploman, but the west tower, which is likely from the 14th century and may include some Saxon work, was retained. The tower was restored in 1896 by Sir T G Jackson, who added buttresses and a turret. It features a notable clock with animated figures that strike the hours. The tower serves as the western end of the High Street.
