Description
No 6 High Street is a house and shop that was rebuilt in 1958, featuring a modern shop front. It dates from the late 18th century and is considered a good and rare example in Oxford. The building is four stories tall and constructed of ashlar stone, with a narrow front and a stone band between the first and second floors. The first floor showcases an elegant late 18th-century Venetian window, complete with pilasters and a semi-circular fluted tympanum. The second floor features a sash window set in a moulded stone frame, flanked by two coupled Doric pilasters and topped with a moulded entablature. The third floor has another sash window in a moulded stone frame, with coupled plain pilasters that connect to the parapet above. All the listed buildings on the north side of the street form a group.
