Description
This is a turnpike milestone stone from 1485 located on the east corner of Magdalen Tower in the High Street. It is the 54th stone from London and is inscribed with the words '- miles -', although the rest of the inscription is illegible. According to the Ordnance Survey, it indicates that London is 54 miles away and Woodstock is 8½ miles away.
