Description
The Bear Inn Public House, located at the corner of Blue Boar Street and Alfred Street, is a building that likely dates back to the 17th century, although it has undergone alterations and modernizations. It has a double rectangular plan and stands three stories tall, featuring a stuccoed timber frame with a Welsh slate valley roof and a modern brick chimney. The east ground floor has a bar front, while the first and second floors are adorned with 2-light casement windows set in moulded wood frames. Inside, the original timber framing can be seen on the north side of the staircase on the top floor, as well as on the gable end of the original house before it was refronted on the east side.
