Description

This is a late 18th-century building with a probable early 17th-century core, comprising two houses and shops. The front is constructed of ashlar and timber framing, with some plastered areas, and includes cellars. The building is three stories high, with a moulded string course, a moulded parapet, and a Welsh slate roof topped by two plastered gables. Shop fronts occupy the ground floor. The upper floors feature tall, blocked sash windows; No. 50 has 19th-century sash windows on both upper floors, while No. 51 has a three-light sash window on the first floor and a two-light sash window on the second. A rear wing has been rebuilt in red brick on the ground floor, with the first floor appearing to be original. The interior features an original moulded wall post and some 18th-century fireplaces. The building forms a group with Nos. 31-46 and Nos. 49-96 St Giles Street.
