Description
This building, number 55 St Giles Street, is part of Regent’s Park College and likely dates to the late 18th century. It is a three-storey structure with a façade of plastered rubble, featuring a band at the first floor and a moulded parapet. Above the parapet is a mansard roof covered in Welsh slate, incorporating two attic windows with sash glazing. There are five sash windows on each of the two main floors; the central windows on each floor are blind. The central doorway is framed by two engaged columns with fluted capitals and a plain entablature. The rear of the building is stuccoed. Early history of the site can be found in publications by the Oxford History Society. This building is part of a group which includes numbers 31 to 46 and 49 to 56, St Giles Street.
