Description
The Old George and Dragon is a public house, later converted into a house, dating to 1691. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a plain-tile roof and a brick stack. The building follows a two-unit gable-fronted plan, with two storeys and an attic. The front elevation features a doorway on the left side, a 19th-century slated bay window, and smaller windows on the upper floors, all fitted with 20th-century casements. A datestone inscribed "RP/DP/1691" is set in the apex of the gable. A large brick stack rises from a lateral gable to the right. Internally, there is a large open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer and a winder staircase leading to the attic space.
