Description
Penlan and Cornerways is a house, now subdivided, likely built in the 17th century and altered in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble with wooden lintels and some brick dressings, topped by a thatch roof with brick end stacks. The building has an L-plan shape and stands two storeys tall. The front has three windows and a doorway to the left of centre, flanked by enlarged windows featuring horizontal-sliding sashes, with a three-light casement at the extreme right. The first floor has three enlarged three-light casements with brick jambs. The right gable wall includes a partly-blocked casement with a heavy chamfered lintel and connects to a short, slightly later rear wing that has additional casements. This rear wing features a shallow stair projection. Inside, there are chamfered beams and a spiral stair. The right bay of the main range and the rear wing now form "Cornerways". The building is included for its group value.
