Description

Cumberland House is a house dating to 1708, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with some squared dressings, and has a thatched roof with rebuilt brick stacks. The building is arranged with three main sections. The right-hand part of the front elevation has a symmetrical arrangement with a 6-panel door, which is sheltered by a canopy supported on shaped brackets, flanked by segmental-arched 3-light casement windows. Above this is a row of three half-dormer windows, each with 3 lights. To the extreme left, and beyond a blank section of walling that aligns with a large ridge stack, is a further 2-light half-dormer window above a converted segmental-arched doorway. A keyblock is inscribed with the letters "S/CE/1708". The interior has not been inspected.
