Description

Botrell House is a house dating to 1751, located on the north side of High Street, Charlton on Otmoor. It is constructed of limestone rubble with some squared dressings, and has a plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The house has a 3-unit plan and two storeys plus an attic. The front elevation has five windows, with a 4-panel door positioned to the left of centre, under a heavy wooden lintel. To the left of the door is a 3-light casement window, and two further 3-light casements to the right, all slightly enlarged. The first floor has five smaller windows. All windows are topped with stone flat arches and contain 20th-century casements. The right gable wall, facing the road, is constructed of coursed rubble and incorporates a brick stack with a datestone inscription, noted as "R/PM/1751," though now largely illegible. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
