Description

The Messenger Memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 18 meters south of the south transept of the Church of St. Mary in Adderbury. It dates from around 1764 and is made of marlstone. The tomb has a rectangular shape with a moulded base and cover, featuring square recessed corner balusters. The inscription panels are carved with Rococo details in very shallow relief, commemorating Benjamin Messenger, who died in 1764.
