Description

The Spencer Memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 14 meters southeast of the south transept of the Church of St. Mary in Adderbury. It dates from around 1716 and is made of marlstone. The tomb is rectangular in shape, featuring a moulded base and cover. It has raised shield-shaped inscription panels at both ends, and on each side, there are similar panels that flank swelling oval panels with keyed raised borders. The main inscription commemorates Richard Spencer, who is believed to have died in 1716.
