Description

The Gardner Memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 14 meters southeast of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary in Adderbury. It dates from the early 18th century and is constructed from marlstone and limestone. The tomb is rectangular in shape, featuring a chamfered base and a deep moulded cover, both made of limestone. The sides are plain marlstone with inscriptions set within incised borders. Although some inscriptions are partly illegible, they commemorate several members of the Gardner family and include the dates 1725, 1756, and 1772.
