Description

Elm Farmhouse and the adjoining dairy/stable range are a 17th-century building with 19th-century additions and 20th-century alterations. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble, with the front and side elevations rendered. It features a steeply pitched old-tile roof and brick stacks at the ends and ridge, some of which are diagonally set on stone bases. The farmhouse is arranged in an L-plan and has two storeys with a three-window range. The main elevation was refronted in the 19th century, showcasing a central gabled porch flanked by canted bay windows. The first floor has three sash windows with horns.

On the left side, there is an entrance with a panelled and glazed door beneath a wood lintel, and to the left of this, a three-light wood casement window also with a wood lintel. There is a blocked doorway to the left, and the first floor features a seven-light metal casement window in a wood frame, with a stop-chamfered wood lintel, lead cames, crown glass, and a wrought-iron casement fastener. The attached dairy range on the left is a single storey plus attic, with a projecting gabled addition on the right that has a two-light wood-framed window with iron bars and a chamfered wood lintel. The entrance on the return side has a plank door and wood lintel, with a through passage leading to the rear yard. There is a blocked window to the right, a single-light casement above, and a loft door. The passage includes a stable door on the left with a wood lintel.

Inside, there is a 17th-century dog-leg staircase with painted softwood balusters and a wood winder staircase. The interior features moulded ceiling beams and stone flag floors in the dairy, along with plank and panelled doors fitted with strap hinges. This building once formed part of the Stratton Audley Park Estate.
