Description
Grove Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a datestone indicating it was built in 1782, although it has earlier origins. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled concrete tile M-shaped roof with stone end stacks. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high, presenting a symmetrical three-window range. A flat stone arch is located above the mid-19th century four-panelled door. The windows on the first floor are fitted with segmental stone arches and flat stone arches over 20th century three-light casements. A sundial is positioned on the right gable, and there are doveholes in the rear right gable. At the back, there is a late 18th century outshut that adjoins a bakehouse, which also dates from the late 18th century and features a bread oven projection. Inside, the front has chamfered beams, and the bakehouse is noted for having a segmental brick arch over a large fireplace. The inspection of the interior was partial.
