Description

This is an oasthouse located approximately 20 meters east of Tanners Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond red brick, with the south end wall featuring timber framing at the first floor level, which is clad with weatherboards. The roof is covered with peg tiles.

The building has a stowage area that faces east and consists of two storeys. At the rear, there are two circular hop kilns. The exterior of the stowage area includes a ground floor doorway positioned to the right of center, with a window next to it, both of which have low segmental arches above. There is a first-floor loading hatch doorway accessed by a flight of wooden steps to the left of center, accompanied by a window to the left and a smaller loading hatch at the right end. The doors are plain 19th-century planks, and the windows are shuttered. A large double doorway is located at the right end of the building. The roof is hipped at both ends, and the circular hop kilns feature a brick dentil cornice and tall conical roofs with cowls.

The interior has not been inspected. This unconverted oasthouse is part of a charming group of listed buildings near the Church of St Thomas A Becket.
