Description
Garden Cottage at Benenden School is a cottage built around 1880 by George Devey in the Tudor style. It is an L-shaped building constructed of red brick featuring a black brick diaper pattern and timber-framed gables with plaster infill. The cottage has a tiled roof with two tall brick chimneystacks that have round-headed blank arches with impost blocks, along with one additional external brick chimneystack. The structure is one storey with attics and displays irregular fenestration. The gables are adorned with carved bargeboards and eclectic framing. The front gable features a three-light oriel supported by brackets in the attic, along with a porch below. The side gable includes a three-light canted bay.
