Description
The Lady's Well is a spring head and memorial located in Goudhurst, dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a heavy slate roof. The small square building has a paved surround and three open arched sides, with moulded and keyed arches on imposts that extend across the piers. The roof is gabled with a raised ridge. Inside, the spring rises onto a platform within the building and flows into a semi-circular basin at its base. An inscription on an attached plaque in the gable commemorates the creation of the surrounding water garden in 1964, dedicated to Eileen Bickerstaff, the Headmistress of Bedgebury School.
