Description
The Tunbridge Wells and Counties Club, built in 1909 and designed by architect Cecil Burns, is a Neo-Georgian style building located on London Road. It is constructed of red brick and features two storeys with attics, topped by a hipped tiled roof that has two protruding gable ends. The roof includes three dormers, with one central curved pedimented dormer flanked by two triangular dormers. A wide modillion cornice runs along the top of the building.
The facade consists of seven window bays, with the two end bays projecting and featuring rusticated pilasters. The central window is flanked by two plain pilasters that extend the full height of the building. Below the first-floor windows, there are panels with a blank shield in the center panel, and a stringcourse runs across the front. The ground floor windows are sash style with cambered tops and keystones that extend into the stringcourse. The building has a plinth and a central round-headed doorcase with a moulded surround, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-fielded panelled door, accessed by three stone steps.
