Description

The Kinzey headstone, located approximately 4 meters south of the chancel of the Old Church of St Peter, is a headstone from the second half of the 18th century, commemorating Elizabeth Kinzey. This upright sandstone slab stands about 1.1 meters high and features a shaped head that is intricately carved with four motifs, including a ring, a skull, an open book, and crossbones, all adorned with scrolled enrichment. The inscription is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, though it is very faint and barely legible. Elizabeth Kinzey's name is discernible, along with what may be the date of her death, 1771.
