Description

Belle Vue Cottages is a row of cottages, now shops, located on the south side of Cranbrook High Street. The core of the building dates to the 16th century, but it was re-clad in the 19th century. The cottages are timber-framed and have red brick cladding, with tile hanging on the first floor. The roof is tiled, featuring decorative barge boards and a pendant on the gable at the right end. Three flat-headed dormers are visible. The cottages are two storeys and have attics, presenting an irregular front with four windows. The first floor has glazing bar sash windows. The ground floor contains three 20th-century shop fronts with fascia boards above. Each shop front has a half-glazed door inset at the right-hand end. The interior reveals substantial timber framing, and an original diamond mullioned window survives at the right end of the building.
