Description
This is a barn with a byre, likely built in the 18th century, located approximately 6 meters northwest of Burgess Hill Farmhouse. The structure features a weatherboarded timber frame resting on brick footings, topped with a peg-tile roof.
The barn is designed with the threshing area facing northwest. It has central opposing double doorways leading onto the threshing floor, with the rear doorway opening through integral lean-to outshots at the back. The front doorway is not full height and contains 20th-century double plank doors. The roof is gable-ended and each end has two pivoting casements with glazing bars.
Inside, the barn consists of three bays, with straight arch braces supporting the beam trusses and clasped side purlins featuring queen struts.
