Description

The Dickenson headstone, located approximately 7 metres south of the chancel of the Old Church of St Peter, is a headstone dated 1791 in memory of Stephen Dickenson. This upright sandstone slab stands about 1.5 metres high. Its shaped double head features a carving of an urn on the left and a bowl of flowers on the right. The first line of the inscription is in Gothic lettering, while the remainder uses Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, including italics, and it records the death of Stephen Dickenson in 1791.
