Description

The barn at Bridge Farm is a multifunctional structure dated 1679, marked by the initials R and S M on a tiebeam. It features an oak frame and is clad in weatherboarding, topped with a half-hipped roof now covered in late 20th-century pantiles. The barn consists of three bays, with an aisle on one side and a central cart entrance. One side of this entrance has been replaced by a 20th-century metal door. The wall frame includes a midrail and diagonal braces, and there are original internal partitions on either side of the cart entrance. The roof is constructed with angled queen struts, original pegged rafters, purlins, and diagonal windbraces, along with secondary supports above the original roof.
