Description

The Potter headstone, located approximately 3.5 metres south of the chancel of the Old Church of St Peter, is an early 18th-century memorial dedicated to William Potter. This upright sandstone slab stands about 600 millimetres high and features a curvilinear shaped double head with a recessed front. The stone shows some wear. On the left head, there is an inscribed hourglass. The inscription is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, commemorating the deaths of William Potter, whose date of death is illegible, and his wife Dorothy, who passed away in 1732.
