Description

This is a late 18th-century front range with a mid-18th-century rear range, originally a house and shop. The front range is built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern with cemented dressings, and has a slate roof that is hipped at the left end, with brick chimney stacks. It is three storeys high, with six windows. The window sashes are 9-pane on the second floor, 12-pane with horns on the first floor, and a late 19th-century shopfront on the ground floor, featuring a fascia, end pilasters, and panels. Two horizontal bands of cement are visible on the exterior. The rear range is also of red brick with diaper grey headers, and has a hipped tiled roof. It has a raised parapet with stone coping and a band between the floors. The Church Lane elevation has rusticated stone to the ground floor, with a cement rendering above, topped with stone coping. A single 8-pane sash window and a 20th-century casement are present. The ground floor continues the shopfront design. The interior retains original joinery, including 2 and 6-panel doors, some with reeded cornices and paterae decoration. There are wooden fireplaces, one with swag and paterae detailing on the frieze. Various staircases are present: a straight flight, a well staircase, and a curved staircase with stick balusters and curved tread ends.
