Description
This is a small outbuilding located immediately northeast of Oldhouse Farmhouse, likely built in the 18th century. It features a framed construction clad in weatherboarding and has a hipped clay-tile roof at both ends. The building is single-storey and has a very small rectangular plan, with its original function uncertain, possibly serving as an implement store.
On the exterior, the only openings are a small door and a window located on the west end, which faces Oldhouse Farmhouse. Inside, the carpentry is very intact, showcasing two bay framing on each long wall with straight braces. There has been some renewal of studs on the front (south) wall. The roof is a simple common rafter design, with tiles secured using wooden pegs.
Most of the farm buildings associated with Oldhouse Farmhouse were sold off in the 1930s, with some converted to residential use and one barn relocated to the Old Barn Tea House in Stocks Green. This small outbuilding has remained with the house and is noted for its group value.
