Description
Appledale Cottage, along with the wall to its left, dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century. The cottage is timber-framed, featuring some red brick and plastered cladding. There is exposed timber-framing above to the right, while the left side is plastered with exposed timber-framing. The roof is covered with asbestos slate and is hipped to the left. The building has one storey and an attic, with a stack located behind the ridge on the left side. There is one dormer window at the rear. The cottage has an irregular arrangement of two windows, which include a mix of 20th-century wooden and metal casements, and a central boarded door situated in an early 20th-century gabled porch supported by timber. There is a 20th-century extension to the west, which is weather-boarded on a brick plinth and has a steep gabled asbestos slate roof, but this extension is not of special interest. To the left of the cottage is a short red brick wall.
