Description

No. 101 High Street is a shop and house dating from the 18th century. The front is made of painted brick, while the side is stuccoed, topped with an old plain-tiled roof that has a brick chimney stack at the left end. The building has two storeys and features one window. It consists of two parallel ranges. On the left side, there is a two-storey canted bay with 24 panes on the first floor, while the ground floor has had its glazing bars removed in the 19th century. The right side has a doorcase with an open pediment, console brackets, and pilasters, along with a semicircular fanlight and an original door, although only the bottom two panels remain, with the rest now glazed. The rear elevation is constructed of red brick with grey headers and includes two 12-pane sash windows.
