Description

Quintain House and New Quintain is a house dating from circa 1700, located on Teston Road, Offham. The house is constructed of red brick with blue headers, red quoins, and red brick dressings. A red brick plinth and moulded brick band are visible, along with projecting eaves and a plaster cove to a steep, hipped roof covered in plain tiles. Tall end projecting brick stacks are present. The building is two storeys and an attic, featuring a symmetrical five-window front with glazing bar sash windows, open boxes, and flat-arched surrounds with rubbed header details. Grooved panels were likely inserted above the ground-floor windows in the 19th century, along with the porch. The central projecting brick porch has a half-glazed and panelled door and a square-headed dripstone. A two-storey addition in matching style was built at the rear in the 20th century. The building demonstrates group value through its architectural style and historical significance.
