Description

A series of wash-houses located in Church Square, Broadstairs. Wash-houses numbers 3 to 5, built in the early 19th century, are faced with flint and feature yellow brick dressings. They have a roof now covered in asbestos sheeting and three yellow brick chimneys. Each of these wash-houses is one storey high and includes a casement window and a plank door. Number 4 retains the original copper. Wash-houses numbers 6 to 8, constructed in the mid-19th century, are made of stock brick with a slate roof and three stock brick chimneys. Each of these has two casement windows and a plank door, with number 8 still having a brick and stone copper. The wash-houses hold social historical interest.
