Description
Homestall House is a house built in the 18th century and early 19th century. It features a red brick exterior and a plain tiled roof. The building has an irregular 18th-century plan, with a 19th-century wing added. It stands two storeys high and has a moulded eaves cornice beneath a hipped roof, with stacks projecting to both the left and right. The windows are regularly arranged, with two tripartite glazing bar sashes and a central glazing bar sash on the first floor, and two tripartite glazing bar sashes on the ground floor, all with gauged heads. The central entrance door consists of six moulded panels and is topped by a semi-circular fanlight, with a moulded step leading up to it. The door is framed by an open modillioned pediment on a frieze decorated with sheaths of corn, supported by attached Doric columns. Inside, there are early 19th-century Neo-Classical details, including marble fireplaces and a ramped stair handrail. The earlier 18th-century wings feature some exposed timber joists.
