Description
West Tonge Farm is a farmhouse that has been converted into two houses, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The building features a timber frame that is clad and extended with red brick, topped with concrete tile roofs.
No. 2 has two storeys set on a plinth, with a hipped roof and stacks located to the centre right and projecting end right. It includes two two-storey canted bay windows, with a central metal casement on the first floor and a central boarded door. Inside, the exposed timber frame is visible, along with a fireplace dated 1614 and moulded wainscotting.
No. 1 is constructed of red brick in English bond on the right, with an extension in Flemish bond to the left. This section also has two storeys on a plinth, featuring a discontinuous plat band and a modillion eaves cornice beneath a kneelered gable roof. It has a stack at the end left and a large triple offset stack projecting at the end right. The first floor has three glazing bar sashes, while the ground floor has two canted bays and a central six-panelled and glazed door with a segment-headed porch.
