Description

Church House is an early 18th century and early 19th century house. It is located on the west side of Church Street in Rodmersham. The house is constructed of chequered red and grey brick with a plain tile roof. The original part of the house is rectangular, with five bays, to which a seven-bay wing was added to the left return elevation in the early 19th century. The house has two storeys and a paired modillion eaves cornice to the roof. It features three gabled dormers and a stack to the end of the right, with a gable end of the left return front to the left and a projecting end stack. The regular fenestration of the 18th century block includes five glazing bar sashes in moulded surrounds on the first floor, and four glazing bar sashes on the ground floor. A central door with six raised and fielded panels, a semi-circular fanlight and an open pediment on pilasters provides access. One glazing bar sash is present on the first floor, and a tripartite sash on the ground floor to the gable end of the left side. A fire insurance plate dated 1704 is positioned above the door.
