Description
Hartlip Place is a house built in 1812 for William Bland. It features a distinctive chequered pattern of red and blue brick with a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and sits on a plinth, with a central projection topped by a pediment. The hipped roof has stacks located on the left, centre, and right sides.
The front has a regular arrangement of windows, with three glazing bar sashes on the first floor and two on the ground floor. The outer ground floor windows are designed with false sidelights, and all ground floor windows have shallow segmented and scalloped stuccoed fans, along with inverse retrieving arches below. The entrance consists of central double doors, each made of three raised and fielded panels, set within a glazed Doric porch that has sliding outer doors. To the left, there is a recessed two-storey extension with one window, and service wings are located at the rear.
Inside, there is a central circular staircase situated in a top-lit circular well.
