Description
A 17th-century garden wall, stables, and dovecot, located south of Tunstall House. The wall is constructed of chequered red and blue brick in English bond, with plain tiled roofs. It runs approximately 70 yards along the road to the east of Tunstall House, returning to enclose a courtyard for a further 50 yards. The wall features weathered buttresses along the road frontage (22 in total), two sets of gate piers with cornices and ball finials to the east, and one set to the west, forming the rear wall of the courtyard.
In the south-east corner stands a two-storey stable block, built on a plinth with a plat band, and topped with a hipped roof featuring stacks to the rear right and centre. It has three leaded wood casements on the first floor, two segment-headed wood casements on the ground floor, and a boarded door on the left side. The central section has a double door with a tiled pentice, and a boarded door to the right.
The south-west corner accommodates a single-storey dovecot, also on a plinth with a plat band, and a hipped roof with a lantern, including one hipped dormer. A central boarded door provides access.
