Description
The Village School is a school building constructed in 1846. It is made of knapped flint with red brick dressings and has a plain tiled roof. The structure features a central block flanked by two projecting wings. It stands two storeys high on a plinth, with brick quoins, a string course, and gables on the left and right that have pierced bargeboards and pendants. There are two gabled dormers at the centre and chimney stacks on the left and at the left end. The building has a regular arrangement of four transomed leaded lights on each floor, all with red brick surrounds, and there are niches in each gable. The central entrance consists of a plank and stud door set within a brick arched surround, topped by two large inscribed plaques.
